Hike & Fly Arvigrat

The Engelberg Valley, with a twist!

The Arvigrat (2013 m) is neither dominant nor high, but very beautiful. A tour that can be easily integrated into a day of flying in the Engelberg valley.

Directions

From Zurich main station by public transport in about 1 3/4 hours to Dallenwil cable car. By car just under 1 hour. From there take the cable car up to Wirzweli.

HIKE

From Wirzweli (1220 m) there are various options. For example, via Langboden and Ächerli (1396 m) up the Hermannstalden to the ridge. Or via Dürrenboden and Loch (1410 m) up to the ridge. The path then continues along the ridge for a long time. This part is particularly beautiful and varied. Ascent time, depending on the variant, approx. 2-3 hours.

Takeoff

From the ridge, heading SE would be possible, but steep and demanding. On the secondary summit (2001 m) there are more advisable take-off options in a SW/W/NW direction. With a favorable updraft, take-offs are easy here.

Flight / Takeoff

Flying towards Lake Sarnen would be an option – watch out for TMA Alpnach! Or over the Ächerli saddle and over Wirzweli back to the ET. Now you can aim for one of the many landing sites; be it at Brändlen, or somewhere else. Careful with the cables!

WEATHER / AIRSPACE

Conclussion

Something new in the Engelberg Valley!
